Dr. Li joined the University of Minnesota Physicians and Regions Hospital in September of 2006. He is originally from Qiqihar, China, and moved to the United States in 2000. His expertise includes pediatric orthopaedic surgery, especially physeal injuries. He has a special interest in pediatric elbow injury. His Ph.D. thesis was focused on aseptic loosening after total joint replacements.

Dr. Li also specializes in arthritis and joint replacement surgery including minimally invasive surgery and computer-navigated joint replacement. He is among the 20 orthopaedic surgeons who received traveling fellowships at the First Annual Arthroplasty Conference in San Francisco in 2004.
