Lisa A. Schimmenti, M.D. is a board certified pediatrician and clinical geneticist.  She received her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and medical school degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.  She completed her Pediatric training at Harbor-UCLA and training in Clinical Genetics and Metabolism at the University of Minnesota.

As a geneticist, Dr. Schimmenti provides expert clinical evaluation and services to children and adults with genetic and metabolic disorders.  She sees patients in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  She offers diagnostic services to children with birth defects and developmental disabilities including autism.  She has strong clinical commitment and expertise in the provision of state of the art genetic services for children identified to be deaf.  Dr. Schimmenti also has a long-standing interest and national reputation for her work on the genetics visual impairment and attends Genetics Eye Clinic in the Department of Ophthalmology.  In addition, Dr. Schimmenti provides care to children with metabolic disorders who have been identified through the Minnesota’s expanded newborn screen.
