Pediatrics Research, Education, and Scholarship Symposium (PRESS), Division of Pediatrics - the University of Minnesota

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce the Second Annual Pediatrics Research, Education and Scholarship Symposium (PRESS) (formerly, Annual Pediatric Fellows' Research Symposium) to recognize the research and scholarly activities of graduate and postgraduate trainees in the department. PRESS will be on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 12:00-4:30 p.m. at Coffman Union (Rooms A, B, C). We strongly encourage the submission of abstracts from all trainees for this competition.  The four categories will be: subspecialty (clinical) fellow, postdoctoral associate, graduate student, and resident.

Those submitting abstracts should identify a sponsoring faculty member.  Click here for the abstract form.  Trainees submitting abstracts should be the first author of the abstract and should state his/her contribution to the research.  Only one abstract per trainee will be considered.  In order to assure the timeliness of the work, the data may have been published as an abstract, but not yet as a paper.

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected abstracts will be chosen for oral or poster presentation. The standard 10-minute slide format, with 5 minutes for questions will be strictly enforced for oral presentations. Prizes in various categories will be awarded and the winners will be recognized at the Department of Pediatrics Annual Education, Research, and Service Recognition Banquet held on June 18, 2008 at the McNamara Alumni Center.

In order to assist our judges, abstracts must be submitted to Mary Jo Jansen, 13-112 PWB, MMC 391, or janse001@umn.edu no later than Monday, March 24, 2008 at 4:30 pm.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope that the PRESS conference will serve both to congratulate our trainees and to encourage their research and scholarly activities.
