Mark Willenbring, M.D.
Professor

Dr. Willenbring is the Director of the Addictive Disorders Section at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and the Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. 

He is well known for his work in program development and evaluation for multi-problem populations of substance abusers, such as homeless persons, elderly persons, public inebriates, medically ill alcoholics, and mentally ill substance abusers.  In recent years, he has begun to focus on bioethical aspects of addiction treatment, especially as it relates to uses of coercion.  He is also interested in public policy towards alcohol and drug use and abuse.  He is a sought-after lecturer, and has been involved in multiple aspects of teaching within the department.
