Cardiac Stem Cells, Stem Cell Institute at the University of Minnesota

Investigators are using state-of-the-art models in the lab as well as innovative animal models to study the ability of multipotent adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells to become functional cardiac muscle cells. Investigators from the Stem Cell Institute are working in collaboration with researchers in the Departments of Medicine, Cardiovascular Surgery and Biomedical Engineering, as well as investigators associated with the Lillihei Heart Institute.
