Residency Program Introduction | Conferences | Medical Students | Training Hospitals | Fellowship Information and Policies | Third World Medical Missions | Residency Home
The Division of Plastic Surgery conferences serve to educate the medical student, surgery resident, plastic surgery fellow, and the practicing plastic surgeon. The conferences are a priority and residents are free from other duties during these conferences, with the exception of medical emergencies. Residents receive a monthly calendar detailing the date, location, and time of each conference. The University conferences are held in the Surgery Conference Room on the 11th floor of the Phillips-Wangensteen building and start at 6:00 pm unless otherwise specified. The following is a brief summary of the conferences.

This core content is covered over a 2.5 year cycle in a monthly "Core Curriculum Conference". This monthly conference is the didactic backbone of the residency and is led by Dr. Marie-Claire Buckley. The format requires that all residents read the entire summary syllabus for each topic as well as the supporting articles. The conference begins with the residents taking the specific in service examination included with the topic. The group then reviews the topic, and the faculty ask questions to clarify clinical and basic science issues.
