Barry Friedman, Transplant Information Services at the University of Minnesota

Barry Friedman is the new Senior Director for Solid Organ Transplant with administrative responsibility for the growth and performance of the organ transplant service line for University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. 

Mr. Friedman received his bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University and brings over 20 years of extensive transplant management and leadership experience with direct patient care, care coordination, procurement and transplant management.  Most recently, Mr. Friedman retired from United States Air Force Reserves as Major.

Prior to joining the Fairview team, he was the Administrative Director for the solid organ transplant program at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and Director of Transplant Services at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Additionally, he has served in executive leadership roles within the North American Transplant Coordinators Association (NATCO); United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS); and the American Society of Transplantation (AST). 

Mr. Friedman will work in partnership with executive medical directors to provide overall service line direction, leadership and management.  This leadership team will work closely with the program leaders for each organ group and other physician and clinical leaders to prioritize and support improvement and growth initiatives.
