There are three major teaching hospitals that form an integral part of the University of Minnesota's Radiology Program. They are the University Medical Center, Fairview, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Hennepin County Medical Center.

University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview
The University of Minnesota Medical Center is renowned for its highly specialized care. The 432 bed Hospital, completed in 1986, is a state-of-the-art facility with 80 percent of the patient rooms providing a beautiful view of the Mississippi River as it winds through the University of Minnesota Campus. Since the Fairview-University Medical Center is a major regional and national referral center, more than 50 percent of the patients come from outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Veterans Administration Medical Center
The Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a full service general medical and surgical hospital and specialized care referral center affiliated with the University of Minnesota. It has 845 beds and a $160,000,000 annual budget. The hospital is located six miles south of the University of Minnesota campus.
The Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Services perform 120,000 imaging examinations and 54,000 in vitro examinations per year. There are 15 full time staff physicians and a physicist, all of whom are board certified either in Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, or both.

Hennepin County Medical Center
Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is located in downtown Minneapolis approximately five minutes from the University. HCMC is the accredited regional Level One Trauma Center. This modern facility (500 plus beds) offers acute trauma and general medical surgical care. Full-time faculty are assigned to each rotation. The department has state of the art equipment in CT, MRI, angiography, ultrasound and general radiography.
