Mark Rosenberg, M.D. Professor of Medicine Director, Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension
Dr. Rosenberg is a Professor of Medicine and Division Director. He is also the Director of the Renal Fellowship Program, a position he has had since 1996, and Section Chief, Nephrology, at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He has a strong interest in education administration on a graduate medical education level. Dr. Rosenberg is Chair of the Training Program Directors Executive Committee of the American Society of Nephrology and is Associate Editor of the Nephrology Self-Assessment Program (NephSAP) for Chronic Kidney Disease of the American Society of Nephrology. In addition he has launched several educational initiatives in nephrology including a handbook of nephrology for the personal digital assistant (PDA). His research interests include the pathophysiology of renal disease and in particular the molecular biology of cell injury. He is actively funded to study the injury inducible protein clusterin that is involved in the clearance of bioactive debris not only following kidney injury but the injury of other organs as well. Other research interest includes kidney-derived stem cells. From a clinical research prospective, he has ongoing studies in transplantation with particular interests in transplant in the elderly and in the epidemiology of transplant outcomes. Clinical areas of interest include intensive care nephrology, genetics of renal disease and mechanisms of progressive renal failure.
