Dr. Jerry A. Molitor is an Associate Professor of Medicine
in the Division of Rheumatology. He is a graduate of the PhD program in
Microbiology and Immunology at Duke University, and of the University Of Iowa
College Of Medicine. He completed Internal Medicine Internship and Residency as
well as Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Washington, where he has
remained on the Clinical Faculty.
For the past seven years Dr. Molitor has practiced
Rheumatology at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He has
conducted numerous clinical and translational research projects through the
Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason, where he was Director of the
Arthritis Clinical Research Unit from 2001-2007, and Associate Director of
Clinical Research from 2004-2007. He also served as the Head of the Section of
Rheumatology from 2003-2006. He was named by his peers as one of Seattle¿s Top
Doctors in the Seattle Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007, as well as in the
Seattle Metropolitan Magazine¿s 2007 rankings.
Dr. Molitor has clinical and research interests in Early
Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Sclerosis. He has cared for a large cohort of
Systemic Sclerosis patients at the Virginia Mason Clinic, where he also
established a Scleroderma Registry and Repository to facilitate the conduct of
translational research in this area. He has served as Washington's Scleroderma
Foundation Evergreen Chapter Medical Advisor since 2002.
Dr. Molitor will be staffing the Scleroderma Specialty
Clinic, establishing a Scleroderma Registry and Repository, and initiating
clinical research projects in Scleroderma and Inflammatory Arthritis. His
translational research will focus on characteristics of the autoimmune response
to human Topoisomerase I, a biomarker of severe Systemic Sclerosis complicated
by Interstitial Lung Disease.
