Helpful links

U of M Banner Below are links for staff and faculty of the University of Minnesota. If you think an area of the University web has been particularily helpful for you, feel free to email me at sarah@umn.edu with the web address and I'll add it to the list.

HUMAN RESOURCES

The Office of Human Resources website contains Employee benefits information, a link to the Employee Self Service area where you can access your pay statement, change your W-2 information, view your flexible spending accounts or download the reimbursement forms, etc. You can also view your training history, or look for a new job! The OHR site has much more to offer so check it out.

MYU

On the MyU portal everything you need is in one place, from your email to the news that you're interested, to the University systems that you use such as EGMS or FFN.  Also any online training that you've been assigned is located here in the 'my Toolkit' area.  MyU is a valuable resource, so take advantage of it.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

Lost your parking card? Not quite sure which bus to take home? Riding your bike to campus for the first time? Just curious about all the different transportation options and costs here? There is a nice under-utilized Parking and Transportation website that you can go to that contains maps, costs of parking facilities, car pool information, bike trails, bus schedules and costs,  construction information and more.

COMPUTERS AND SOFTWARE

If you have questions about buying computers, software or the security of your computer there are three websites at the University that can help. If you're looking to buy and already know what you want go to Techmart for discount computer equipment and software. If you're looking for information on security issues or technical details visit the Office of Information Technology or the ADCS websites. OIT recently announced a discount for Microsoft software for staff and faculty with links and information on how to buy it. They also regularily post patches or updates to commonly used software and if you're wondering why you didn't get your email yesterday or you couldn't log on to the internet this morning- there's even a 'system status' area. ADCS much of the same information as OIT with additions of training, virus services, tech telephone lines, guides for setting up email and other softwer programs, archival information with technical q&a's, wi-fi guides, software downloads and more- Did I mention, if you're a Staff or Faculty at the University you get FREE Symantic Firewall/antivirus (1 copy for work, 1 for home) from the ADCS website?
