Public Jobs: Private Data Security Training for new Staff/Faculty

DATA SECURITY TRAINING FOR NEW STAFF/FACULTY IN RHEUMATOLOGY

Partnering with the Office of Information Technology, the University Privacy & Security Office produced the Public Jobs: Private Data University Security Training Program.  The program covers security measures required for handling private data protected under federal and state laws as well as University policies. Employees learn to identify security issues, how to protect data and hardware, and the protocol for responding to a security problem.

All University faculty, staff, student workers, and health science students and volunteers will be required to take the training.
You should have received an email in your U of MN email account
alert you to go to the MyU portal and log in using your U of M Internet (X.500) ID and password. If you missed this email or accidentally deleted this you can still access the training by following the instructions on the link below. Each training module is assigned to individual faculty and staff members' portal on a staggered schedule, with two weeks between each course. The content includes not only HIPAA but the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), the Minnesota Data Practices Act, and University policies.

How to access training

All University employees and students can enter training through the "MyU" portal at http://www.myu.umn.edu.
