Organization and Mission
The mission of the Department of Therapeutic Radiology-Radiation Oncology at the University of Minnesota Medical School is to:
- Advance the state of knowledge in therapeutic radiology and radiation oncology
- Provide the most optimal cancer therapy
- Educate medical students, physicians, radiation technologists, physicists, and the public as to cancer prevention, treatment, research, and advocacy
- Develop state-of-the-art research models that can be translated into clinical trials.
The Department of Therapeutic Radiology has an affiliate relationship with United Hospital, Hennepin County Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Medical Center and a clinical affiliation with the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. These relationships provide residents and faculty access to a wide spectrum of patients with a variety of medical problems.
The Department of Therapeutic Radiology also has laboratories that investigate basic biologic questions in cancer related research.
