Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School
I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus primarily because of the overwhelming sense of community and camaraderie among the students. I am also excited about the focus on rural practice. The RMSP and local preceptor programs have given me a better understanding of the joys and challenges of rural practice, and the early clinical exposure has helped me to develop my patient interviewing and physical exam skills.
I have 3 years of undergraduate research experience at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. My honors thesis focused on the role of liver inflammation in seasonal weight changes in 13-lined ground squirrels.
