Cost of Medical School

The University of Minnesota Medical School offers a number of options to help you fund your education.

Cost is an important factor when considering medical school. It's no secret that a medical education is expensive, but the University of Minnesota Medical School is committed to keeping our tuition and fees as affordable as possible. Upon entering our medical school, your tuition will be fixed for four years.

Tuition for the first year of Medical School will cost a Minnesota resident an average of $38,628 and a non-resident* an average of $55,437.

That's a lot of money, but we're here to help.

To mitigate the impact of funding your education, our full-time financial aid officers provide support to help you manage your debt. In addition, there are some scholarships and grants available to our students.

*Note: Medical students from South Dakota are able to apply for tuition reciprocity. Students from Canada and other countries are considered non-residents.
