Where are you from?

I am from Minnesota. I grew up in St. Anthony Village which is just north of downtown Minneapolis.

Where did you do undergrad and med school?

I went to the University of Minnesota for college, majoring in Neuroscience in the College of Biological Sciences. For medical school, I attended Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

What do you do when you're not practicing medicine?

Outside of work, my wife and I like to travel, try different restaurants around the Twin Cities, take our dog to the dog park, or meet up with friends for drinks or games.

Why did you choose the U of M for your residency?

I chose the University of Minnesota for residency because our various hospital sites ensure that our residents are ready for practice. By the time we graduate we have seen the necessary breadth of pathology and high volumes to prepare us for any practice setting. The Twin Cities are a great place to live as well, with good schools and tons of parks, lakes, and breweries.

Where do you see yourself in the near future?

I will be staying at the University of Minnesota for both Pediatric and Thoracoabdominal fellowships.
