Catalog Description: The Addiction and Substance Use Disorder Treatment elective provides intensive exposure to current approaches to therapy and rehabilitation of substance use disorder patients. The course has 3 main clinical opportunities: 1) Observation of group therapy/treatment. 2) Outpatient clinic in at least 2 settings. 3) Inpatient rounding at Abbott NW with the Addiction Consult team. There will also be a virtual curriculum to complete. Students will complete buprenorphine wavering training to become proficient in treatment with medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Those that have already completed this training will work with the course director for supplemental learning based on their clinical interests.
