We are happy to announce that Falon Montreuil received the 2023 Program Coordinator Excellence Award for her exceptional accomplishments in both the Dermatology and Internal Medicine Residency Programs. Falon has been a Program Administrator at the University of MN for nearly 15 years. With her wealth of knowledge and experience, she recently seamlessly transitioned into her new role in Internal Medicine and quickly made significant improvements to the program's administrative management.

Falon's achievements, as highlighted in her nomination letters, include the creation of portfolios for each resident, consolidating key documents into a centralized "one-stop shop" for easy access. She also implemented the use of the GMEdIS database to manage meeting records and streamline the Resident Assessment Committee (RAC) data. In Dermatology, Falon successfully oversaw the transition to Milestones evaluations, improving the trainee review process and enhancing overall evaluation.

Falon's contributions extend beyond her own program as she actively participates in various GME-related committees across the Medical School, was a founding member of the UMN Coordinator Advisory Work Group (CAWG), mentors new coordinators as part of the CAWG/OGME mentorship program, and serves as the coordinator liaison to the GMEC. She is known for her kindness, positive attitude, organizational skills, and responsiveness in working with residents. Despite the challenges of her role, Falon consistently seeks ways to improve the program and willingly takes on additional responsibilities.

On a national level, Falon played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Program Coordinator subgroup of the Association of Professors of Dermatology. She organized the first gathering of this group, sharing her program expertise and best practices with the wider GME community.

Overall, Falon's exceptional achievements, dedication, and compassionate approach make her an invaluable member of the University GME community. She is highly deserving of the Program Coordinator Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions to medical education across the community.

Please also join us in congratulating Mitch Gmyrek, Colon and Rectal Surgery & Thoracic Surgery Fellowships, Anna Hennessey, Cardiovascular Disease, and Shari Johnston, Radiology. They were nominated by their Program Directors, Department Chairs, residents/fellows, and Education Managers for the Program Coordinator Excellence Award for their outstanding commitments to Graduate Medical Education.

Each are amazing Coordinators, and really care about their program(s) and trainees. They positively impact our community and contribute each and every day to achieve operational excellence. We truly appreciate them.

Thank you!
