Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD)
The University of Minnesota’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD) combines rigorous scientific training with world-class medical education to cultivate the complete “physician-scientist.”
Our program is one of 46 MD/PhD programs funded by the National Institutes of Health to develop the next generation of physician-scientists. We bring together outstanding, motivated student-leaders and seasoned experts in the field for a training experience that is both challenging and rewarding. As a student, you’ll gain access to unique training opportunities and new career connections throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul region.

Students receive 2016 Match Day results

MSTP students are eligible for research funding from the University of Minnesota Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) through its Translational Research Development Program.
