Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students

DIVERSIFYING THE FACE OF MEDICINE

The Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), Twin Cities chapter, is a pipeline program sponsored by the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) to directly serve minority students through mentorship, education, and guidance. MAPS was created as an undergraduate organization to help minority pre-med students explore opportunities within the medical field. In addition, MAPS provides informational programs, academic resources, and opportunities to engage with the community.

 GOALS OF MAPS

  • To provide underrepresented pre-medical students with knowledge, skills, and experience that are both prerequisite & concomitant to professional participation in health care fields.
  • To improve underrepresented student matriculation into medical programs.
  • To encourage culturally conscious physicians by increasing awareness of health disparities and other issues that marginalized communities face.
